The new capability expands Guardian Glass’ manufacturing operations in Egypt.
It also supports the production of high-performance coated glass for residential and commercial building projects.
The coating line manufactures Guardian SunGuard™ Solar Control and Guardian ClimaGuard™ low-E glass.
These products serve customers in Egypt, the broader Africa and Middle East region, and Southeast Europe.
The products suit a wide range of residential and commercial building applications.
These applications include facades, windows and other glazing solutions.
Moreover, the sputter coating process used at the facility enables the production of high-performance glass.
The glass combines solar control and thermal insulation properties with a modern, neutral aesthetic.
The coatings help manage solar heat gain and improve building energy performance.
Applied to clear float glass, the coatings support daylight and help preserve natural views through the glass.
They also maintain the appearance of colors within interior spaces through high color rendering.
In addition, the process supports consistent product quality, color and appearance across production batches.
The coated glass produced at the facility comes in a variety of sizes.
These include jumbos of up to 6 meters in length.
The glass can also undergo heat treatment, lamination and curving.
These processing options provide flexibility for a broad range of architectural applications.
They can also help project teams address design, safety and security requirements.
Furthermore, local production supports efficient manufacturing processes and responsive supply.
This approach helps customers across the region meet their project timelines.

“Today’s inauguration marks an important milestone for Guardian Glass in Egypt,” said Guus Boekhoudt.

“It expands our manufacturing capabilities and the range of high-performance glass products available to customers across the region.”
“We would like to thank the Egyptian authorities for their collaboration and support.”
“We particularly appreciate the support from the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) and the Egyptian Customs Authority.”
“We also thank them for joining us today to celebrate the successful completion of this project.”
Guardian Glass has operated in Egypt since 2003 and manufactures float glass in Cairo.
The site also hosts a service hub that supports customers around the world.
The addition of the coating line introduces advanced sputter-coating capability to the country.
It also helps Guardian Glass serve the evolving needs of construction projects.
The company provides energy-efficient glass products, technical expertise and services available within the region.
Examples of projects glazed with Guardian Glass in Egypt include One Ninety, a mixed-use development in New Cairo. and Zed Sheikh Zayed Tower, a residential development located in the heart of Sheikh Zayed.
These projects illustrate how high-performance coated glass can support architectural aesthetics.
They also demonstrate how the products can support building performance objectives.
