Marriott International, Reliance Ventures Join Forces Moxy Brand Set to Bring Experiential Hospitality to Downtown Cairo

Marriott International Inc. and Reliance Ventures S.A.E, Reliance Egypt’s hospitality investment arm, have signed an agreement to open a Moxy Hotel in Downtown Cairo.

The anticipated opening of Moxy Cairo Downtown is set for 2029, bringing the brand’s lively hospitality, stylish design, and vibrant social spaces to the heart of the city’s downtown district.
Moxy Cairo Downtown will be a part of the Lazoghly complex of buildings, formerly the offices for Egypt’s Ministry of Interior, which is undergoing adaptive reuse. The complex is being transformed into a mixed-use development offering hotel accommodations, office and co-working spaces, retail outlets, restaurants, and edutainment facilities.
Shady Hassan, Vice President, Development – North Africa, Marriott International, stated, “There is a growing demand for more lifestyle hotel accommodation options in Downtown Cairo, and Moxy Hotels will be a fantastic addition to the city’s hospitality scene with its playful and stylish experience. We are excited to collaborate with Reliance Ventures to bring the brand’s engaging social spaces and programming to this vibrant area of the city at an appealing price point.”

Amr Elhamy, Chief Executive Officer of TSFE Tourism, Real Estate & Antiquities Subfund, added, “We are excited to collaborate with Reliance Ventures and Marriott International on the conversion of the Lazoghly complex and introduce a new addition to the hospitality landscape in Downtown Cairo. Moxy Cairo Downtown will offer a unique experience within the area, catering to the growing trend of experiential and lifestyle travel.”
Moxy Cairo Downtown is expected to provide stylish and contemporary rooms and suites designed for today’s young-at-heart travelers. The design plans include a fitness center, vibrant public spaces, a convenient grab-and-go concept, and communal tables that offer ample opportunities for connectivity and interaction.
Located in Downtown Cairo, the hotel boasts a prime location in close proximity to iconic landmarks such as Tahrir Square, the Egyptian Museum, and the Cairo Opera House. It is also conveniently situated near the Nile River, surrounded by historic architecture, commercial buildings, and bustling markets.
