He said the project reflects Elsewedy Electric’s global engineering expertise and its ability to deliver major strategic projects.
The project has also highlighted the capabilities of Egyptian engineering companies. An Egyptian joint venture between Elsewedy Electric and Arab Contractors implemented the project in Tanzania.

Julius Nyerere Project Highlights Elsewedy Electric Expertise

Hamdy said the project’s opening represents an important achievement for Elsewedy Electric.
He explained that the results from the project’s operation demonstrate the high level of efficiency achieved during implementation.
“Actual measurements and tests showed that the generated power exceeds the project’s design capacity. This reflects higher operational efficiency, while using less water to generate the same amount of power,” Hamdy said.
These results, he added, demonstrate the engineering capabilities behind the project and the quality achieved during its implementation.

Wael Hamdy Highlights Egypt’s Engineering Capabilities

Hamdy expressed his pride in the achievement and thanked the Egyptian state for its confidence in Elsewedy Electric’s capabilities.
He also thanked the Egyptian state for awarding the project to the Egyptian joint venture.
In addition, Hamdy expressed his appreciation for Arab Contractors, the strategic partner in the project.
He stressed that the achievement resulted from the integration of Egyptian expertise and capabilities.
According to Hamdy, the project also strengthens Elsewedy Electric’s pride in the achievements of its teams.
The company’s teams contributed to one of the major strategic projects in Africa. The project therefore represents an important example of Egyptian engineering expertise delivering major infrastructure projects beyond Egypt.

Julius Nyerere Strengthens Egypt’s Presence in Africa

The Julius Nyerere Dam and Hydropower Plant has been developed on the Rufiji River in Tanzania by the Egyptian joint venture of Arab Contractors and Elsewedy Electric. Official project updates have previously identified Eng. Wael Hamdy as a senior vice president of Elsewedy Electric and a member of the Egyptian project team.
Earlier project updates also confirmed the successful generation of electricity from the plant’s units following the completion and testing of the first generating unit.
For Elsewedy Electric, the project represents more than an engineering achievement. It also reflects the group’s ability to participate in major infrastructure and energy projects across Africa.
Hamdy’s comments underline the company’s confidence in Egyptian engineering talent and its ability to execute complex strategic projects.
The achievement also reinforces the importance of cooperation between Egyptian companies and the role of local expertise in delivering major projects across the continent.
