Microsoft and Ericsson Bring Enterprise-Grade 5G Laptop Management to Windows 11

Enterprise 5G Laptop Management on Windows 11 with Microsoft and Ericsson

Enterprise 5G Laptop Management is now integrated directly into Windows 11. Microsoft and Ericsson deliver AI-powered, secure, always-connected laptops for enterprises. Organizations can remotely manage devices, enforce policies, and optimize 5G performance with ease. The solution ensures smooth deployment, enhanced security, and reliable user experiences worldwide.

Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) announces a major joint Microsoft-Ericsson development in enterprise mobility. Moreover, the development integrates advanced 5G capabilities directly into Windows 11. Enterprises worldwide and their workforces benefit from secure, policy-driven laptop connectivity. Consequently, IT departments can manage, protect, and scale mobile PC fleets more easily.
The joint solution combines Microsoft Intune device management with Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect. Specifically, Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect is an AI- and cloud-analytics-powered platform. It continuously monitors network quality and adjusts connectivity automatically. As a result, this ensures the best performance and security.
AI-based 5G management embedded in Windows 11 enables IT teams to automate device connections. Additionally, devices can switch seamlessly between communications service providers’ (CSPs) networks. IT teams can also apply in-house enterprise policies automatically.
Through Microsoft Intune and Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect, IT teams enforce secure connectivity profiles. Furthermore, they apply enterprise policies across every 5G-connected device. This process minimizes manual setup and ensures consistent, compliant user experiences everywhere employees work.
Automation capabilities remove challenges in adopting cellular-connected laptops. They reduce manual setup and ensure consistent user experience across locations and service providers. In addition, the new capabilities reduce IT overhead and provide a secure pathway to modern mobility. This pathway is powered by the most secure, cloud-integrated version of Windows.
Microsoft and Ericsson’s long-standing collaboration delivers managed 5G connectivity to enterprises. Moreover, this announcement follows several successful multi-market pilots. In collaboration with CSPs and global partners, Microsoft and Ericsson will deliver enterprise 5G bundles. Bundles start with Surface Copilot+ PCs, Microsoft 365, Intune, and Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect.
Microsoft and Ericsson will demonstrate solution capabilities at MWC Barcelona 2026. Attendees will see exclusive insights into future solution capabilities.
Experts will showcase the joint solution and new features. For example, IT teams can remotely set network policies for 5G as priority. Additionally, they can automatically switch eSIMs. A local AI agent on Surface 5G laptops makes context-aware decisions in real time.
This ensures optimized connectivity performance for smooth, reliable business workflows.
Erik Ekudden, CTO of Ericsson, says: “AI-powered 5G laptops redefine how and where work happens. Microsoft and CSP partners enable organizations to automate secure, always-connected device deployment. As a result, this creates a smarter, more responsive workplace for the AI era. This solution can transform enterprise IT and employee workflows worldwide.”
Ian LeGrow, Corporate VP, Core OS, Microsoft, says: “Windows 11 is the optimal enterprise platform. It deploys and manages 5G-connected PCs at scale. Surface Copilot+ PCs and Ericsson Enterprise 5G Connect are piloting the new capabilities. Enterprise IT teams can provision, manage, and secure devices and 5G connectivity using Intune. Windows, Intune, Surface, and Ericsson enable organizations to deploy AI-ready PCs confidently. Therefore, employees remain securely connected and productive wherever they work.”
The joint solution is now available to enterprises in key markets. It launches in the United States with T-Mobile, and in Sweden with Telenor. In addition, it launches in Singapore with Singtel, and in Japan with SoftBank Corp. Similar launches will follow in 2026 in other markets. These include Spain with MasOrange, Germany with O2 Telefónica Germany, and Finland with Elisa.
