Beit El Gouna Is Now Open, Bringing a Piece of El Gouna Red Sea into Every Home

Beit El Gouna, a lifestyle retail concept inspired by the Red Sea town’s architecture, community and coastal character, brings together Egyptian designers, artisans and homegrown brands. Developed by El Gouna, the concept features homeware, decorative objects, fashion and lifestyle products, including collaborations with Okhtein, Simonds and Kensho.

A Lifestyle Concept Inspired by El Gouna

Beit El Gouna takes its name from beit, the Egyptian Arabic word for home. Its concept centres on the idea that home extends beyond a physical space to encompass belonging, comfort and personal connections.
For residents and visitors, the collection offers a way to take elements of El Gouna’s character into their own homes. The concept draws on the town’s architecture, waterfront lifestyle and community, translating these influences into a curated range of products.
The initiative also adds a retail dimension to El Gouna’s cultural and lifestyle offering. It brings together established Egyptian creative businesses, designers and artisans through a shared concept inspired by the town.

Egyptian Designers and Brands Shape the Collection

Beit El Gouna worked with Aya and Mounaz Abdel Raouf, the founders of Okhtein, as creative consultants. Their role included helping shape the store concept, merchandising and collaboration strategy.
The collection brings together Egyptian design, craftsmanship and locally developed products across homeware, fashion and lifestyle categories. More than half of the collection is dedicated to homeware and decorative pieces, according to the supplied announcement.
Participating brands and artisans include Kahhal (1984), Catfish Objects, Anakadana, AbraCadabra, Moje Soap and Form the Studio. The announcement also identifies collaborations with Simonds, Kensho and In Your Shoe.
Each participant contributes a different interpretation of El Gouna’s character. Together, the products connect contemporary design with the town’s architecture, coastal setting and everyday lifestyle.

El Gouna’s Identity as a Source of Inspiration

Mohamed Amer, CEO of El Gouna and Managing Director of Orascom Development Egypt, said the concept builds on the town’s established identity as a place that residents and visitors regard as home.
“For more than 35 years, El Gouna Red Sea has been more than a destination; it has become a place that people from around the world call home. From its distinctive architecture and waterfront living to the community that brings the town to life, every detail contributes to that sense of belonging. Beit El Gouna is an extension of this feeling, bringing together thoughtfully curated pieces inspired by the town’s character, architecture and lifestyle. Through these pieces, we want residents and visitors to take a part of El Gouna Red Sea into their own homes, wherever they may be, and keep that connection to the town alive.”
The store’s design reflects the same approach. Its visual identity draws inspiration from the town’s architecture and the interplay of light and shadow. Palm and fish motifs further reference its coastal character.
Rather than focusing solely on conventional souvenirs, the concept positions the collection around objects intended for everyday use, home decoration and gifting.

Okhtein Collaboration Draws on Personal Connections

Mounaz Abdel Raouf, co-founder of Okhtein, said her own connection to El Gouna influenced the development of the concept.
“El Gouna Red Sea has always felt like a second home to me. Having a home here myself, I’ve come to know the town so well, from its distinctive architecture and waterfront lifestyle to the little details that make it such a special place. I know firsthand how beautiful El Gouna Red Sea is and the unique feeling it gives you, and I wanted others to experience that same feeling. This personal connection was at the heart of our inspiration for Beit El Gouna. We wanted every detail, from the scents and textures to the sounds, flavors, and carefully curated pieces, to reflect the town’s character and evoke the same warmth and sense of belonging that I feel whenever I’m here. Our vision was to create something that allows people to take a piece of El Gouna Red Sea home with them and experience that special feeling wherever they are.”
The collaboration extends beyond the store’s visual presentation. It also informs the selection of products and sensory elements intended to evoke the experience of living in or visiting El Gouna.

Food and Fragrance Extend the Experience

Among the collaborations is El Gouna Chocolate, developed with Simonds as a new interpretation of the mille-feuille dessert associated with the town.
The chocolate bar combines layers of crispy pastry, smooth milk chocolate. almond praline and a hint of saffron, alongside Simonds’ signature croquant. The product translates a familiar dessert into a format designed to be taken home or shared.
Another collaboration, The Scent of El Gouna, is a bespoke home fragrance developed with Kensho. It draws inspiration from the Red Sea’s coastal atmosphere and the familiarity of waterfront living.
Together with other products in the collection, these collaborations extend the concept beyond visual design. They use taste, scent, texture and other sensory elements to evoke aspects of the El Gouna experience.

A Further Dimension to El Gouna’s Lifestyle Offering

Beit El Gouna brings Egyptian craftsmanship and contemporary design into a retail concept shaped by El Gouna’s architecture, community and coastal setting.
The initiative also provides a platform for established Egyptian brands and creative businesses to present products through a concept linked to a recognisable destination. Its emphasis on homeware, decorative objects, fashion and lifestyle products creates several ways for residents and visitors to engage with the town beyond their time there.
The launch forms part of El Gouna’s broader cultural and lifestyle offering. The store’s opening date and operational status should be confirmed against the latest official announcement before publication.
