Hesham Elsadek Architecture has successfully completed the design of “Masjid Al-Bahr,” a unique mosque located in Ain Sokhna.

Spanning 5,000 sqm, this mosque stands out as the only one in the world where the direction of the Qibla aligns perfectly with the direction of the sea, offering a rare and harmonious connection between the natural environment and Islamic architecture. The design marks a significant milestone in modern mosque architecture.

For his part, Hesham Elsadek, founder and principal architect of the firm, highlighted the long history of Islamic mosque architecture, which has evolved over 14 centuries. He emphasized that while the design of mosques has undergone many transformations, the essence of a mosque remains a space oriented toward the Qibla, featuring a mihrab and minaret. “The mosque symbolizes creativity and continuous development in Islamic architecture,” he added.

Moreover, Elsadek explained that the concept for Masjid Al-Bahr leverages the rare phenomenon where the direction of the sea and the Qibla align, offering worshippers a new spiritual experience that enhances reflection and devotion.

“Our goal was to blend architectural design with the spiritual and religious elements, creating a harmonious space that elevates the prayer experience,” he said.

Furthermore, the mosque is designed to accommodate 20,000 worshippers, with space for 8,000 inside and the rest in the external courtyards.

Notably, the design carefully balances modern architectural principles with the serenity and tranquility that visitors seek, providing a peaceful and reflective environment.
